The longer it takes to get your new website online, the more money you are leaving on the table. We work FAST. Unless you’re building a SAAS, for most small business websites and ecommerce shops you shouldn’t have to wait months for a working website! Most websites will be online within just 7 days to 4 weeks. As your partner, we help you through all the steps required to launch – we don’t just chuck up an empty site and ride away. We help keep the project on track and help you if you get stuck on any task, so your site gets online as fast as possible. Remember, websites are a live evolving channel – the goal is to take action, get your site online and then keep testing, updating and iterating to improve it.
Inital Free Consultation
After we receive your getting started email questionnaire, we’ll review it and set up a time to chat with you by phone. We’ll have a 20 minute, no charge, free phone consult with you to get a detailed overview of your project needs. We’ll determine what your “conversion” goals are for your site. What are you selling? What is your monetization strategy for the website, your plans to grow your business online? What are the issues or problems that you’d like us to help you solve? What would a successful website project be for you?
After our initial call, we’ll set up a Get ‘R Done Roadmapping Session, where we will have an in-depth phone consult, do some preliminary mockups or wireframes, or other docs to help fully define the project scope of work before we send you a proposal with a fully itemized schedule of work, fixed bid price and timeframe.
Discovery and Design Phase
First up after your proposal is signed is the formal Discovery Phase. We’ll expand on our initial phone conversations, discuss your online competitors, find some inspiration sites that you love (and why you love them), and go over your branding, logo and color schemes, your target audience personas and review the content you have ready if this is your first website, or the content to be migrated or adjusted if this is a redesign.
We’re big on simple, easy to read and navigate designs – we don’t do that artsy, tiny all-capital-letters and flash whiz-bang kind of stuff. Our goal is to make your content and call to actions pop as the main focus for site visitor — to make it dead simple for your users to convert into leads or buyers or fans.
If we’ve done a Get ‘R Done RoadMapping Session before the bid, this will expand upon the work we’ve already done. If you don’t have a good quality logo or branding, it is REQUIRED that you get that done first (we can help you with this, just ask!), as that sets the tone for your website and your online marketing. We’ll also delve deeper into requirements for any special features or functionality your site needs, like a forum, membership site content scheduling, billing & payments, or automated email newsletter, etc. Typically two concepts and two sets of revisions are included, if you need more, we’ll add those on at an hourly rate. We usually nail it on the first pass unless your site requirements change after the wireframe stage (which does sometimes happen with complex membership and ecommerce site prototypes).
WireFraming for Complex Projects
For larger or very complex custom website projects, the next phase is WireFraming, where we mock up a clickable, live version of your website showing all the pages and menus (but without any design or actual copy). This lets us confirm we’ve got all your functionality and identify any additional features we need to program. Once we’ve agreed on the wireframes, then we create the designs for your home page and support pages and present those for your review.
Development and Testing Phase
After you sign off on the designs, it’s off to code! We’ll help you with getting your hosting account, email service provider account, paypal or stripe accounts, and any paid plugins set up at this stage. We’ll set up your hosting, email, Mailchimp, WordPress, and any social accounts, depending on your project specs, get your designs sliced and coded into a custom Genesis child theme and loaded up into WordPress, then user and cross-browser tested.
While we’re working on that, we’ll get you started on creating your copy and post content. We’ll provide you with checklists and content guides to help you corral all the content you’ll need to get ready for your new site. In most cases, we’ll even get all your initial content data entered and loaded up for you, including your images and video, to be sure you’ve got a killer looking website ready for launch. We’ll be having you review your email marketing signups and delivery of your “lead magnets” and auto-responder emails to be sure they meets your expectations.
We’ll be in touch often during this phase in case there are any last minute changes that need to be made after testing to improve the end user experience of the new site or email marketing campaign.
Soft Launch Phase
We build right on your hosting server, so you’ll be able to review your website in its real, live environment (but hidden from the public view) and be sure it’s working properly so there are no surprizes on launch day. Most of our projects include us completing your initial data entry for your pages and blog, your categories, and menus, your social accounts, widgets, and popups, and typically your first dozen ecommerce products to be sure your cart is functioning and looks good with your live data. When your site passes our testing review, then we hand you and you and your team the reins and let you complete your data entry and run the site through its paces.
During this soft launch phase, you’ll enter in any last minute page copy, blog posts, featured images, photo galleries of slideshows, or widget content and all your remaining ecommerce products, and prepare your site for its actual launch. We install any custom documentation right in your WordPress admin dashboard, so handy tips on entering or modifying products, blog post images, changing widget content, etc., are always right at your fingertips – no searching for lost .pdfs or logging into forums to search for help for common data entry questions. We also provide basic help instruction over the phone or via email on your site specific fuctions as well as the online written site documentation, and provide a resource guide with tons of online WordPress and Mailchimp tutorials and training, as well as Shopify, eCommerce and marketing resources.
After you’ve reviewed and approved your finished site in the Soft Launch phase, then comes the Big Reveal – the actual Launch of your new website and email marketing system! After the site is pushed live, we’ll finish the setup of your Google analytics, set up your backup and security software if you’ve selected one of our Website Care Plans, and take care of any final technical items.
Post-Launch Assistance & Support Phase
After launch, for two weeks, we’ll be on speed dial call and and clear up any post-launch issues, provide support for any small tweaks or fixes, and be available in case you have questions about using your new site. Websites, and email campaigns, are always a process and not a singular event, so we’ll remain on-tap after that for paid support by the hour (or by affordable multi-service packages), to help you get the most out of your website.
